Garden of the Gods is nestled in the Shawnee National Forest in Elizabethtown, Illinois that is roughly 52 miles from Evansville, Indiana. Garden of the Gods has picturesque views, unique rock formations including Camel Rock and Anvil Rock. Hiking, picnicking, and camping are all features at Garden of the Gods. A trail that goes from the main parking lot passes alongside most of the main rock formations. The trail takes approximately 45 minutes to travel.
Indiana's oldest zoo is located in Evansville. The Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden stretches over 70 acres and houses more than 500 different animals. The pathways bloom with exotic and local trees as well as various plants. Exhibits at the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden include an interactive otter display in the Children's Enchanted Forest and Monkey Ship Bumper Boats.
